I never really understood people who say things like "this dress makes me want to have another baby girl!!" .. Well! Now, I totally get it! I feel like having another little bundle just so I can purchase gDiapers.

What a great find!!

So what are G diapers?

Hooray!! Im so excited to see some amazing independent fashion designers in Dallas!

The Pin Show is Thursday February 25th at the Historic Union Station in downtown Dallas, TX. In this show you will see 31 independent fashion and accessory designers showcasing over 130 - 2010 looks on the runway!! How exciting! Mingle with designers and even purchase your favorite look right off the runway!! AH! I am giddy with delight.

One of the designers that caught my eye is Nha Khahn. These pieces really stood out to me. I love the color, design, and detail. I can't wait to see what else Khahn and the other designers have to show.

My husband and son got me a "special surprise" for Valentine's Day. Chocolates, flowers, and a V-day mug. :) I feel so loved.

I Am Obsessed With American Apparel

A friend turned me on to American Apparel a couple of weeks ago, and I cannot get enough!!

I am REALLY digging the Interlock High Waist Skirt!! It comes in a variety of different colors and is only $34.00. You know you are getting quality when you shop AA.

Best of all!! There are SOO many ways to wear it!!

In the top photo:
You can see the model wearing a black high waist interlock skirt paired with a cotton spandex jersey long sleeve body suit. Simple and super cute!

This green skirt is actually the grass green/black high waist skirt being worn as a dress. The band is a different color but it's all one piece!

Here you can see the navy colored high waist skirt paired with the lightweight sheer rib Ragalan Pullover and a cotton beret as the perfect accessory!

This is one of my favorite looks! A high waist skirt paired with suspenders and a short sleeve plaid button up shirt

Last! I love the high waist skirt with an AA Sash as an accent accessory!

I will probably be getting a few in each color this summer! I cant wait to shop, these are to die for! I love how many different ways you can wear the skirts and that they come in a variety of different lengths. Simple yet sophisticated!

How To Care For Handmade Clothes

I was going through one of my Sandi Henderson patterns the other day, when I came across the recommended care instructions. I thought they were worth sharing.

Henderson says "Making clothes is a lot of work! I don't suggest machine washing handmade items. This isn't because they aren't durable. On the contrary, if handmade items are made with care, they will generally last much longer than store bought items. Giving them proper care will only extend their life. I suggest hand washing and line drying. My favorite cleaner is a wonderful product called Soak. I highly suggest the "Flora" scent. It is my favorite!"

Soak is "modern care for fibers". It is designed for the most delicate items such as lingerie, scarfs, sweaters, baby clothes and other knit/handmade items. "Soak is gentle and deliciously scented with fabric-friendly ingredients that revitalize fibers so they look great and last longer." Although Soak is geared towards a hand wash, this product is also ideal for either hand or machine washing including High Efficiency Machines.

As you can see these come in a variety of different scents and sizes:

A very cute cocktail dress-How to wear a pettiskirt

For Christmas, I had the pleasure of making a pettiskirt for my good friends sister as a gift. Well, I absolutely fell in love with the way she used it and I thought I would share!!

Isn't this the greatest New Year's outfit ever??

The black "dress" part of the outfit is this cotton spandex jersey high waist skirt. These can be found at American Apparel in several different colors.

And the royal blue/turquoise fluff is of-course the pettiskirt I created! The metallic satin you see higher up on the dress is the waist band of the pettiskirt. The adult sizes are pretty long (about 19" in length but they can always be shortened to fit your requests!)

Best part? All handmade/American made! No Chinese imports here!!

My friend has agreed to photograph the petti on herself, with her amazing photo talents! ;) So you will probably be seeing this beautiful creation in the shop soon!

I hope you all had a very lovely Christmas! I'm super excited to be getting back to work!! My next craft show is 3 months away (long time!) but I need to be stocking up inventory. I put it up on my "ready to ship" section as I go, so you can take advantage of the already made stuff too!

So this is what I have in the works..

So about these last few days off..

Christmas was relaxing!! And we actually had a white Christmas here in Texas! I think Christmas Eve was the absolute coldest! That wind was brutal!! My family celebrates Christmas Eve so we had to get out there and drive in the ice and snow. I know its not as bad as some places, being from Poland, I know it can be much worse!! But thats how this time of year is supposed to be isn't it? :) I enjoyed the change. Spring is coming soon anyway..which always brings hot weather!!

Im so inspired to start working with these beautiful colored satin fabrics that I found!! FYI- the colors are richer and more beautiful than this photo.. I am not a good photographer!!

Im going back to purchase the cooler shades next! I saw the most beautiful blue and maroonish colors. Ah! I just love looking at them.

Catching Up!

What a rediculously stressful past couple of weeks!!

First, during Urban Bazaar my husband and son were in a car wreck. :( It was a hit ad run accident and (ofcourse) the guy who ran is no where to be found. Thankfully, everyone is okay. But my car on the other hand.. is not. I've been meaning to post photos of the car that is no longer. But I haven't had a chance to take photos of it. Its terrible!

Second, my wallet was stolen :( Thankfully, I didnt have anything other than change in it. And I already cancalled my cards.

Third, my condo was flooded with water because of a bathtub leak! (Well only in the bedroom/bathroom part of the house) The downstairs neighbors were pretty upset about that. It only left a bit of a bubble on their ceiling and my husband (who does remodeling for a living) offered to fix it free of charge. The neighbors went ahead and remodeled their condo this week.. i guess they decided it was time becuase of the ceiling bubble?

And a few other random small things that I am not even going to mention because I dont want to rant! :)

I'll tell ya! When it rains..it pours!

So now, sharing a car for work/craft shows (a painting SUV no less) is going to be ultra difficult. Becuase our hours conflict so much.

So most of you noticed, there is no giveaway this month.. and this is why! So I'll start it back up in November when things have finally calmed down.

I have been on a blog roll lately!! I guess it has a lot to do with my new camera. Or maybe its because it is my favorite season! :)

The pumpkin patch opened today!!! We went for a bit. Dakota picked out a pumpkin...and since it benefited the Boy Scouts of America we decided why the heck not. So we got a little preview of the patch but will definitely be back more than once this year!

I could not help but laugh!! How hilarious!! I thought this was just a perfect Christmas gift for some of the cat lovers in my family. It's so cheap on Amazon too! Definitely worth the purchase before the holiday rush gets crazy.

Western Day!

Today was Western Day!

So if you live in Texas (or at least in the Lewisville area) you put on your cowboy boots and hat and had a good ol' time at Western Day in Old Town!

I remembered that it started today and thought we could make the parade. Dakota really loves parades. Unfortunately, Western Day occurred to me too late and we arrived at the very end of the parade. I didn't have a chance to snap a photo of a particularly freaky float we saw.. it was a real man on top of a car getting eaten by a fake ware wolf? I'm not sure who the sponsor was, but it looked kinda scary!! I really liked it though, I thought it was creative!

We were able to see some of the different cars they had at the car show. There were definitely some interesting ones!

LOL! Surf Wagon! With hula dancers on the dash! This one was Jeff's favorite.

Look at the colors on these! Bright pink and neon green. Reminds me of the Disney/Pixar Cars movie

Dakota was also first in line to get a tattoo. His newest favorite discovery.

I just got finished with making a custom order for a lovely customer of mine! Her little girl is going to be Pipi Longstocking for Halloween and this is a part of her costume!

All of the fabrics are upon customers request. I think its appropriate for the Pipi look! I really hope she likes it, I think it turned out nicely! I wish I had better lighting to show off the color a little better.

Back From Oktoberfest!

So as many of you know Oktoberfest in Addison was last weekend! I am finally getting a chance to sit down and blog about it.

Thursday started off with a MUDDY MESS. I went there to set up my booth and all of the rain turned the ground into mush. It was disgusting. I sank into it like quick sand. So since there as mud all over me and my clothing, I figured it would be a bad idea to even take out and display any of my inventory at all considering the fact that my entire booth was muddy as heck!

So we we decided to have a family night instead.

We went home, changed, and came back just to check everything out. I wasn't surprised when I noticed that no one wanted to walk into the muddy mess that was next to our booth. I guess it was a good idea to skip Thursday vending after all! We went and watched the clown/circus act instead and Dakota won what I assume is a goldfish. He appropriately named him Nemo.

Then we went to Pei Wei and Dakota's favorite place.. Starbucks.

Friday was a little better but still bad. They put down a ton of mulch..this would have been good! But the mulch hadn't been used for over 2 years and it was sitting there decomposing in what I can only assume was a warehouse of some sort. So once it was on the ground the entire place reeked of farm smells, but more like ammonia mixed with the scent of cow.

This is the mulch which was previously nothing but mud on Thursday:

So now my inventory was sure to stink!! I toughed it out and stayed all of Friday, it turned out that I actually did really really well that day. I was able to find a pair of boots the night before. (The last size 10 they had at Target.. I usually wear size 9 but hey! I would take what I could get.)

Dakota was super scared of stepping in mud because he tought his shoes and socks would get soaked like the day before. So he sat on the chair most of the time.

So here's the booth!

I created these Ruffle Halloween bloomers pretty much last minute, you like?

Then, I packed up all of my items at the end of the night. The other vendors thought I was crazy.. but I really really didn't want the mulch smell all over the clothing. So it took me an extra hour or so to fold everything up into the tupper boxes neatly so nothing would wrinkle. Because I did NOT want to stay up all night ironing! UGH

Saturday was warm and a lot better!! The stench of mulch still lingered in the air. But people were coming out and it was fun! I got to get away for a bit and watch the daschund races. We had potato pancakes and overall it was just a really nice and sunny day! I even got to purchase some pretty wooden roses!!

I origionally got the purple..but I decided I was a red/orange/yellow sort of gal so I went back and bought some more!

Sunday was fine as well! The festival was coming to a close and it only lasted about 6 hrs. It was a nice day and we definitely did well enough to do it again! Lots of work though. I had to have the clothing lightly dry cleaned after all because they did end up smelling like mulch. :/ No matter how hard I tried!

My favorite season is approaching

Do any of you have a favorite drink that reminds you of the holidays or a favorite time/occasion?
I think mine would have to be the pumpkin spice latte... I feel that they come out with it at the perfect time. It always reminds me of my favorite season, Fall.

We've been having some outrageous rain for the past 3 days here in Texas and it really cooled the hot air down! I really love the gloomy rainy weather..it always makes me want to decorate for Halloween/Fall

Great news too! I got a new Canon Rebel Digital SLR camera this weekend!! And I am SOOO excited. The quality of the photos has no comparison to any of my previous cameras. I absolutely LOVE it.

And for the best part, we are using a lot of eco-friendly yarns. Not all of them are eco friendly but a good majority are. We are leaning towards the ones that are, anything to help the environment!

Most of these yarns consists of 80% Acrylic and 20% of a specially processed fiber produced from recycled plastic bottles. The recycled plastic bottles are thoroughly cleaned and refined, a process that completely removes any residue from the plastic bottles. This assures a fresh, clean yarn. (This same fiber is used in cotton/polyester sweaters and socks.)

There are lots of colors to choose from! You can even choose your own.

I think my all time favorite color is the Autumn Red. I tried to get a closer photo, but it's really more stunning in person. I really like the pumpkin, olive, and mustard like shades too. I think the Autumn Red really captures the essance of fall, for me anyway.

The Highland Village Balloon Festival was this past weekend!! I had the pleasure of meeting some of the nicest people ever!!!

Although, for most of the weekend the balloons were unable to take off due to the windy weather conditions we still had a great time! A sweaty good time! lol. :)

I bought him a Thomas train from my booth neighbor..a lady who owns a toy store in Denton..she then gave him the "James" character train for free.. she was too sweet!!

Jeff made me a new display!! This is my new set up, it sure beats those cheap looking clothing racks! lol. :)

The carving on the side is not done yet. But I like how the fabric fills in the bird here:

Our other neighbor Something Wood (who does the best hand carving decor and other items) gave Jeff some tips and tricks that were a great help!! They were also kind enough to give Dakota a handmade wooden car.. which was too nice of them! Thank you all! I just love meeting new people!

Long Overdue!

Okay, I have been severely neglecting this blog!!! Finally! Here is my long overdue post!

I have been incredibly busy lately! I can't even believe the amount of things I have gotten accomplished in the last few weeks! I was working like a mad woman on all of the items that I was going to bring to the Indie Shop Soiree. I don't think I saw the daylight for like a week during that time! Turns out, the show wasn't as busy as we all hoped so I guess I didn't need to be preparing that many items after all! :/ But now I have a whole bunch of ready to ship items! And! I don't have to work as hard to prepare for the next craft show! woohoo! So it all works out in the end.

Luckily, I was able to spend some much needed time with my son and husband Monday and Tuesday of this week as well as last! We visited the museum of Nature and Science and saw the "dinosaur bones" my son was so anxious to see! He loved them! After that we got bubble tea and sat around at their table for a bit! Which Dakota loves to do.

We also went to see "the mouser movie" aka G-Force. Mousers are a made up word for hamsters, gerbils, Guinea pigs, mice, and other small rodents. Kids are so cute sometimes!

I cant even believe how well behaved he is in public! Hes only 3 and he's super amazing!! I love taking him out because he always listens!! I wonder how the heck that happened! He also recently started using the big potty. He's been using the small "big kid potty" but now hes moved up to the big white one and we fully took the small one away. I cant believe hes at that stage already! I just want him to be little forever.

Anyhoo!

The Indie Shop Soiree was a lot of fun! I enjoyed seeing a whole bunch of crafty items and familiar faces from Etsy Dallas :)

My birthday celebration at the pool turned out really well! A lot of people showed up and we made some awesome food! Brats and hot dogs for the meat eaters and grilled eggplant burgers and other veggies for the veggies!

Im Back!

I'm back!!

I FINALLY got the Internet back up at my house. Last weeks storms really did some crazy damage around the neighborhood! Thankfully only my DSL line paid the price. I couldn't believe all of the trees that fell down in my moms neighborhood!! It was a pretty intense storm! Even the parking lot lights at Starbucks that were cemented into the ground took a dive! The police security tower thing fell off its stand and nearly crushed a friends car! That's some harsh Texas weather!!

Hopefully the storms die down for the rest of the season! :/ Now, I'm playing catch up with all of my orders due to the power outages.

I don't even know how I did it or if its humanly possible but this week I got busy and was able to sew 45 dresses!! (and construct 25 bloomers) I couldn't believe it when I counted them!! I'm still putting the finishing touches on the dresses (I wont go to bed until 3am again!) but they will all be done! So after this entire crazy hard working week I cant wait to kick back with some friends and relax at the pool for some birthday fun tomorrow!! My birthday was officially on the 15th of June but Hey! Who says you cant enjoy it a week later? I borrowed my sisters camera so I hope to actually take a few photos this time!! My poor sister has to miss the fun because shes getting all of her wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow!! Crazy girl! I hope you recover quickly!!

Etsy Dallas Spring Bash! What A Blast!!

What great fun!

This Saturday's Spring Bash on South Side on Lamar was a great hit! It was only our 2nd craft show but I have decided that I want to continue to participate in these craft shows as often as possible. We just love the atmosphere!! The next event TYS will be participating in is the Abbott Park grand opening in Highland Park, TX. May 31st 1-4pm. Come check us out! Tons of fun specifically for children..face painting, baby yoga, and other great family events!

I really really enjoyed meeting everyone last Saturday!! I could not believe the amazing talent of these sellers! Such cute items and ideas. I enjoyed walking around whenever I was able to get the chance. Unfortunately, my camera was busted so I didn't get a chance to take photos of mine and everyone else's booths. Hopefully next time :/

Anyhow, here are a few of my favorite sellers:

Silla Soup :

I think these are by far the prettiest hair clips and little pins that I have ever seen. I love the attention to detail in all of these items. Perfect for your little girl, special event, or even for yourself! I couldn't help myself! I had to buy a pair of green poppy hair pins at the craft show. SO cute.

Manhandled :
Manhandled is a crazy awesome button shop. They have everything from 'The Office' pinback buttons, highlighting your favorite characters such as the accountants..to the teen vampires of 'Twilight'. They even take custom orders! And best of all their prices are unbeatable!! And they are just about the nicest people ever.

I ordered these gorgeous and hunky Joaquin Phoenix buttons a little while back as a custom order (pinbacks and hairclips)

Since then, they were added to the shop as a permanent collection!

Absolutely dreamy.. :D

They even invented a whole new way to wear buttons...as hairclips..interchangeable hairclips!!

Lolafalk has some of the most beautiful and intricate designs. Her designs are simply faboosh! (that's fabulous) I am in love with this Greta Purse. The design, colors, and attention to detail is TO DIE FOR!

I had to bring my sister by her booth on Saturday, I knew she would instantly fall in love with these little handbags, purses, and clutches.

This shop is a recent Etsy find I stumbled upon last night. I just love these soaps, they are so different! It would be really hard for me to use these because they are just so darn pretty! Its really hard to choose a favorite but I'm absolutely in love with these sugar skulls!

A New Tool!

Oooh la la. I stumbled upon this very very helpful tool for my giveaways this morning..called random.org

It basically chooses a TRUE random number for you (so i dont have to write everyones name down andstick it in a bowl) How convenient! Since I'm allowing double entry's this month I wont use it but I will definitley do it for Junes giveaway.

Sadly.. Heather Ross' Mendocino Line is being discontinued due to her Non-Compete Contract with the children's sleepwear company Munki Munki. I'm sure many of you have heard about this already! Unfortunately, this means that I have to phase out her prints in my shop. There is still some fabric left for orders (but not much!)

Funky Finds Spring Fling!!

I've been having issues with my old HP laptop. Well it's only a year old.. but we got a new Dell and I am back on the internet! :)

Spring Fling was awesome! What a SUPER FUN craft show. I had the pleasure of meeting a whole bunch of new people including Etsy Dallas members! I really loved it, it was my very first craft show and I was a bit nervous but all in all I thought it went very very well! Here are some photos of our booth courtesy of my sister Dorothy. Its a very amatuer booth so dont laugh!!

We had a clothes rack to the side, that was not photographed..for those who are interested in finding out where the dresses are! :)

My Polish Heritage

So its 1:39 AM and I'm up sewing/completing orders while listening to infomercials.

Tonight's infomercial has really caught my attention. I usually think they are bogus.. I mean..why else would they come on at 2 AM? But Rosetta Stone -Language Learning has really caught my attention this evening.

Coming from a Polish background, I want to make sure that the Polish language remains in my family. After all, I was born there and have lived there for the first 6 years of my life..but I have a feeling the language will end with my generation. I felt very sad when the other day I was reviewing body parts with my son in Polish only to hear him say... "NO mommy! Thats my eye! EYE!!!" I don't know if it's just a stage my 3 year old is going through or what but he used to recite his body parts in Polish without flaws..and now he argues and refuses to repeat and memorize.

My husband on the otherhand, is basically American and speaks only English. He REALLY REALLY wants me to teach him Polish (not like I haven't tried, he was doing well for a while) I drilled him with flashcards until he got bored of it. When we have family gatehering (birthdays, holidays, and whatever else) He always really wants to understand what everyone is talking about. Understandably so..

But even for me, being married to an and English speaking man for almost 3 years, speaking nothing but English to everyone other than my mom and dad, and being around the English language basically 24/7 .. you tend to forget words here and there.. and then sentences.. and then your accent dies down...and you forget how to write in your second language becuase it has been years since your mother has forced you to go to Polish class on a Friday night.

I think this Rosetta Stone business is sounding more and more appealing. Especially since it is something me, my husband, and my son can all benefit from. The only thing is that it seems a bit expenisive and I want to make sure I am getting my money's worth before I make such a large purchase.

Has anyone out there ever tried Rosetta Stone or any other foreign language teaching aid? Any luck? Is it worth the money?

I did visit Poland about a year and a half ago with my son, since I do still have a large portion of my family that lives there. My family owns a lot of land out there.. people are shocked to hear we own 3 forests!! Haha!! I think it's a total of 8 acres of land.. and a VERY modern house (my grandparents are 21st century kind of people) HAH!!
